Carl Frampton MBE is a two-weight world boxing champion.
Frampton is recognised as one of the best boxers of his generation.
When he turned pro in 2009, the Northern Irishman quickly climbed the ranks. He won the IBF and WBA Super-Bantamweight belts before winning the WBA Featherweight Championship.
He made history by becoming the first Northern Irish fighter to win a world title in two weight divisions. His destructive punching power, intelligence, and speed make him one of the most exciting boxers in the ring.
However, Carl’s grounded personality, entertaining style, and humour have garnered an intensely loyal and vocal following amongst the boxing and sporting community. As a result, his status as a mainstream boxing star has strengthened globally.
Carl’s popularity stems from his success in the ring and the strength of his community and family values. Originally from the staunchly loyalist area of Tigers Bay in North Belfast, Carl grew up at the back end of the troubles in Northern Ireland and has spoken frequently about the positive influence boxing has had on his life.
“Carl was absolutely fantastic! It couldn’t have gone any better for us. All customers have commented about Carl being so genuine, very funny, and it being one of the best events they’ve attended”
JP Corry, Customer Dinner
When he first started boxing at age 9, the sport exposed him to a strong mentor in the form of his coach, friends from across the community divide, and a drive and determination that allowed him to avoid some of the poorer choices on offer at that time.
Carl is now a prominent supporter of Integrated Education, campaigning for children from different religions to be educated together rather than in separate schools. As a Protestant married to a Catholic and with three young children, he is determined to be a role model for the future of Northern Ireland and to ensure that the next generation grows up without the ingrained community prejudices of the past.
He is also passionate about promoting opportunities for young people and developing their social skills and career prospects through sport. He can speak from the heart on the importance of making the right decisions, seeking the support of mentors, and being single-minded in pursuing your goals.
In the 2016 New Year Honours, Carl was awarded an MBE for services to boxing and the community.
After retiring from the ring, Frampton has had a successful media career. He established himself as a leading boxing pundit, worked with broadcasters TNT Sports and BBC, and fronted documentaries that examine young men’s mental health.
Frampton has also honed the philosophy of success during his career and applied it to various business ventures.
